The last playlist I made was back when you were in Poland! It was centered on songs about missing your partner and being apart. In the time since then, I’d been thinking about what the next one would even be. Whats the point of making anyone a playlist? Personally, I’ve always viewed them as a way to communicate ideas or express emotions through a collection of songs so intentionally composed that it feels like a cohesive body of work. The message is clear. But…I didn’t know what message it was that I wanted to express. That is, until I found the first piece of the puzzle. It all started with the discovery of the first track, “Kingston”. I heard it and immediately knew, this song is going to start the new playlist. Kingston helped me choose an outline and intention behind this playlist. For this playlist, similar to the second one, I focused heavily on the lyrics. The lyrics are meant to talk to you, the music meant to reflect the evolution of our relationship.

This playlist has changed over time as our relationship has. This was in the works as I began to realize you were my person. The playlist evolved as my fear of such intense love changed into appreciation and acceptance. I spent far too many nights getting stoney, floating on my couch, and focusing on the sequencing of the songs. I obsessed over finding the right songs, the best songs to dedicate to you and our love. The final song came to me in early December on a walk home from your place. There’s some intense emotions captured in these lyrics and some hopefullness for the future. I hope you enjoy.
