Trade of Hearts

by Thee Sacred Souls.

What better backdrop song for our Califonia trip than a one made by a local San Diego band. I picture a beautiful 75 degree sunny day with the slightest cooling breeze. Us, cruising underneath palm trees on our way to an island. We’ve just seen California Condors, the giant sequoias, and camped under half dome. From This Old Dog we come to realize that as scared as we may feel, the feeling is at least mutual.

The lyrics here are mainly dedicated to the many card games we play. I love that we can be in a museum, grabbing drinks at a brewery, or in between cuddling and making lunch—there is never a wrong time to play cards. The cover and lyrics have such fun references to a deck of cards. Its a celebration of our competitive spirits that sometimes results in a very heated and sweaty exchange.

In me realizing that you’re my person I felt a tension in telling you what I felt. The ending lyrics “I feel the same way” plus the back and forth use of the female and male vocals represent us confirming to one another: This love is intense and its a lot but hey, I feel the same way.

I'm rolling in my love, so

Come on, baby, let me be

The king to your queen

My love is diamonds and your love is gold, ooh

You want my loving, don't you, baby?

You know that I do

So, let me trade you a heart for a heart

I will

I'm rolling in my love, so

Come on, baby, let me be

The king to your queen

My love is diamonds and your love is gold, ooh

This love's been growing inside my heart

(Inside his heart, growing up, baby)

I feel the same way you do

(If you feel the same way, let's trade a heart for heart, baby)

I feel the same way you do

(Inside his heart, growing up, baby)

I feel the same way you do

Doo, doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Doo, doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Doo, doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Doo, doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

I feel the same way (I feel the same way)

I feel the same way (I feel the same way)

I feel the same way (I feel the same way)

I feel the same way

I feel, I feel the same way
