Verse 1:

Love is

Love is

Love is a fleeting feeling

Love is believing

Love is

Love is

Love is a freaky feeling

Love is believing

Love is

Love is

[Bridge]

Verse 2:

I was falling through a hole

You a giving summer soul

I was falling through a hole

You a giving summer soul

I know

I know you're shy

I know you try

Don't

Hold it back

This song is a bit unique in its build up. To me this song is a whole experience. I struggled for months to find the perfect closer to this playlist. Initially the final song was Caminar Bonito, but something about it felt lacking as a conclusion. Then this final song floated its way to me one December evening. I was working at your place, it was getting late in the afternoon and I decided to begin listening to this album. The songs being rather long, I found myself only making it about 3 songs in before I had to leave. So I started it from the top on my walk home from your place. On my walk home I discovered this song. Right then and there I knew it was a fitting conlcusion. I’d recommend listening to it fully before reading this explanation further [Damian from Jan. 8th here, I now know you’ve already listened to this song so just enjoy the explanation. I love you].

Verse 1:

  1. The repetition of “Love is” reflects the different interpretations of love that I’ve discovered in my life. Love had been fleeting, as I felt I had one foot in relationships and my other out the door. I knew love was believing but I guess I didn’t want to fully believe. Then…I met you and love became such a freaky feeling. After these last few months and evolution of our relationship, I believe in love.

Verse 2:

  1. There have been so many moments, since I’ve moved out here to DC, in which I’ve felt myself falling. You’ve been there to support me with your love. You gentle, loving, giving, summer soul. Not only do you love the heat and sun to a degree I cannot comprehend, your kindness carries such a warmth. What better way to describe you than a giving summer soul.

  2. The final lyrics refer to me. I tend to be a shy, reserved, and private person. I’ve had tendencies to hold back, to be cautious. At the end of this song, I’m telling myself not to hold back, to give it my all. And thats when the song ends perectly in this crescendo celebrating our love. From the moment I met you and felt like I started dreaming, to the moments in between where I’ve found myself overwhelemed at times with the depth of my love for you, I’m reminding myslef to not hold back. Our love is everything. Our love is beautiful.

Additional interpretation: The song has these buildups in the middle that echo out. I interpret them as four distinct moments:

  1. We meet each other (boom explosion of sound). As it echoes we spend more time together. We get to know each other more.

  2. Second explosion of sound hits as we realize we’re deeply in love with one another. The echoes are us coming to terms with what this might mean for our respective futures.

  3. Third explosion isn’t so much alarming and strong as it is calming and sets a healthy tempo. A rhythm we can follow as we progress in life.

  4. Then comes the final explosion I previously mentioned where we celebrate our love.
